Photos we like - Part 2

Big lychees at the front from Hainan Island looked delicious but the Hong Kong grown small ones were the sweet ones. Not sure if they apply to other things as well?!

Sicilian eggplants - sound classy and continental. But these are bought in North Point market and grown in Thailand!! ゼブラなす, its Japanese name comes from its other common name, Zebra eggplant.

This red-vented bulbul was heading for its last session of feeding the baby bird before the whole family left their nest when young bulbul finally completed its flying lesson. It might look cute but it is included among the world most invasive alien species!! We know coz these are the birdies who ate our peaches.

A clear night in Hong Kong, when everyone was watching TVB......

A tree taller than IFC came out from nowhere,

Babies in the house

No!! These are not our babies. These are babies from the same birds which picked our ripest peaches last year, red whiskered bulbuls. All day long, the mother bird and father bird will make tireless trips to feed these babies. So after a few days they are almost ready to leave our house. Hope they come back again and bring more life to this house.

Note: You might need to select 480p resolution to see what's going on.

Black Kite (麻鷹)

Whenever Hong Kong gets a clear sky, we see many of these flying machines circle over our heads and we never really know what they are called. They are Black Kite, the most common raptor found in Hong Kong and they have adapted well to our city life and thrive by picking up rubbish and dead animals around us. We caught sight of one sunbathing on top of the scaffolding the other morning. Wish we can fly like them, but at least we don't need to pick on rubbish to feed ourselves.

We see birds flying around all the time, but it's not easy to get a clear view of them. And when we do see them, we are too busy chasing after them to take a photo. Like the ones who took our peaches before, they are red-whiskered bulbul(紅耳鵯). It will probably be awhile before we get a photo of those rascals. But you will be the first to know when we do.
